Mrs. Violet Grenz, 94, of Bismarck, ND passed away on January 4, 2019 in Mandan.
Violet Grenz was born at Medina, North Dakota on September 13, 1924 to Adam and Margret (Bitz) Staiger. She attended school at Medina and graduated from Medina High School in 1942. She then moved to Bismarck, North Dakota where she attended and graduated from Capital Commercial College. She worked for the United States government for 38 years - 28 of those for Federal Highway Administration. After she retired, she worked part-time for the State Department of Transportation.
Violet was married to Fred Grenz Jr., in Bismarck on June 27, 1948. Fred died when their two sons were 6 and 9. She was a long-time member of Bismarck Baptist Church where she was very active in the women's ministries and served in many offices there. She was also an active member of and held several offices in the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association.
Violet enjoyed traveling throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe.
Violet will be missed by her two sons: Arlo (Christa) of Fremont California and Daryl (Rosie) of Portland, Oregon and two grandsons: Will (Tanya) of Los Angeles, California and David of Roseburg, Oregon and a host of other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, 2 brothers Wilbert Staiger and Ben Staiger, 2 sisters Leona Tahran and Adeline Wahl.
