Doris E. Rohde

Doris E. Rohde, 78, Mandan, passed away Friday, March 8, 2019, at Miller Pointe-A Prospera Community. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, May 31, 2019 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 523 4th Avenue SE, Jamestown, ND.

Doris was born April 6, 1940, at Wing, ND, to William and Marie (Schwindt) Rath. She was raised and educated in Pettibone, ND where she graduated from high school, in 1958. Doris was confirmed at the American Lutheran Church in Pettibone, in 1954. Shortly after graduation she married Stanley Rohde on July 1, 1958. With Stanley in the military the family moved many times over the years. Her first move was to England and then to Omaha, NE, where two sons were born, Sheldon and Tracy, at Offutt Air Force Base. Kevin, the youngest, was born at Vandenburg Air Force Base in California. Doris enjoyed teaching Sunday School for fourteen years and volunteered in many places. Doris and Stanley separated in 1982.

Doris had several hobbies, including piano, crafts, reading, writing, writing poems, bingo, dancing, knitting, decorating cakes and collecting Elvis Presley memorabilia.

She is survived by three sons, Sheldon (Val), Kevin (Yolanda), both of Dallas TX, and Tracy (Tammy) Mandan; one brother Billy (Bernice) Rath; two sisters-in-law, Sandy Rath and Lyla Rath; four grandchildren, Amanda Llamas, Josh (Markita) Rohde, Megan (Darin) Helbling and Tyler Rohde; seven great-grandchildren, David and Michael Llamas, Avrianna, Vincent and Isabella Rohde, Preston and Madelyn Helbling; several nieces and nephews; and very good friend Wesley Strand.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Austin Rohde; three brothers, Roy, Elmer, and Darold Rath; two sisters-in-law Ruby Rath and Bernett Rath; and two nephews, Bradly and Mitchell Rath.
