Eugene Sand, 81, of Jamestown, ND died peacefully at his home on September 12, 2020.
Eugene (Gene) was bore at Dickinson, ND on July 24, 1939, the son of Theresa (Holz) Sand and Wendel Sand. He was raised on a farm with 13 brothers and sisters north of Gladstone, ND.
He married Barbara Smith in May of 1960 in Richardton, ND. They lived and started their family in Dickinson where Gene worked for Peavey Elevators. He joined the Standard Oil Company and worked in Bismarck, Cedar Rapids, IA and back to North Dakota to Fargo. As the family grew up, he decided to put down permanent roots in Jamestown where he bought and ran The Pantry Café for 11 years.
Gene was the kind of man that loved his family and his friends and was always there for them when they needed a helping hand. Gene raised cattle for many years and loved raising bottle calves, feeding the birds rabbits and any other animal that needed a bite to eat. He loved all animals, he loved people, and especially following the Trump political race.
He is survived by his wife Barbara of 60 years and son Mark (Kelley) of Temecula, CA, brothers Leo Sand (Diane), and Raymond (Helen) and sister Dorothy (Jim) Dworshak all of Dickinson.
Gene was preceded in death by his son Steven, both parents, Theresa and Wendel Sand, one sister Rose, and brothers Herman, Tony, Lesley, Joe, Richard, Edward, Wendel, Walter and Kenneth.
Funeral Service: 11:00 AM, Thursday, September 17, 2020 with Visitation an hour prior at Williams Funeral Home, Jamestown.
Burial: Highland Home Cemetery
