Donald LeRoy Triebold was born July 16, 1953 in Valley City, the son of Lloyd and Mae (Trader) Triebold. The family moved to the Dazey, North Dakota area in the late 1950’s. Donald attended school in Rogers and graduated from North Central High School in 1972.

He was united in marriage to Marjorie Paasch on October 18, 1974 at St. John’s Methodist Church in Wimbledon, North Dakota. They made their home on a farm south of Dazey where they farmed for 32 years. He also drove truck for Lafarge for 20 years. They moved to Valley City in 2005.

Donald was an active member of the Valley City Eagles Club for many years, where he served as president and served on various committees including Trustee. Donald also was a member of the Barnes County Wildlife and Gun Club. He served as a Barnes County commissioner for four years and was a board member of Edna Township board serving as treasurer for 25 plus years. He was also a volunteer fireman for the city of Dazey.

He loved his children and grandkids. He was lovingly called “Papa” and he enjoyed going to their activities, birthday parties and spending time with them. He listened to what they had to say and was always calm in his responses. His grandchildren often brought the “kid” out in him.
