Bravo to outgoing UJ president
The Jamestown Sun hands out these bravos this week: *Bravo to Robert Badal, who is retiring at the end of the month as president of the University of Jamestown. Badal, who has led the university for 16 years, served during a time of change that included a new name (previously Jamestown College), new buildings, more programs and capital campaigns.
*Bravo to the 50th anniversary of the establishment of 911 in the United States. On Feb. 16, 1968, the first 911 call was made in Alabama. The North Dakota Association of Counties said more than 230,000 calls are made to 911 annually.
*Bravo to the University of Jamestown hockey team, which has earned its first trip to the American College Hockey Association Division 1 national tournament next month. The Jimmies were eligible for the first time this year to make the tournament, which is March 8-13 in Columbus, Ohio.
*Bravo to Ethan Bowman of Jamestown, a Jamestown High School junior wrestler who won the 120-pound state championship on Feb. 17 at the Fargodome. Bowman defeated Minot’s Corey Hooker 5-2 at the North Dakota Class A state individual wrestling tournament.
