Bravo to plans for Citizen’s Academy
The Jamestown Sun hands out these bravos this week:
*Bravo to Loren Roberts, who turned 105 years old on July 22. Roberts lives at Ave Maria Village in Jamestown.
*Bravo to a cemetery in North Dakota being added to the National Register of Historic Places. The Assyrian Muslim Cemetery near Ross, N.D., is the site of the first mosque in the nation and the only Muslim cemetery in the state for 90 years, according to the North Dakota State Historical Society.
*Bravo to Nathan Lorenz, a Ramsey County youth who is the 2018 national champion in trap shooting after competing at the 4-H National Championships in Grand Island, Neb.
*Bravo to organizers for plans to offer a Jamestown Police Departments Citizen’s Academy through the police department. Plans call for a 10-week program that will begin Oct. 8 teaching participants about various aspects of law enforcement. The goal is to connect with the public and potentially find people interested in a career in law enforcement.
