The Jamestown Sun hands out these bravos and a buffalo chip this week:
*Bravo to the Community Block Party, held Thursday in downtown Jamestown to welcome freshmen at the University of Jamestown. The party is also popular with local residents and is a positive event for students and the city.
*Buffalo chip that Palmer amaranth has been found in North Dakota. The aggressive weed, found and pulled in McIntosh County, can produce up to 1 million seeds per plant. A Forum News Service story reported that yield losses of up to 91 percent in corn and 79 percent in soybeans have been reported due to the weed.
*Bravo to the University of Jamestown being named a finalist to host the first NAIA Women’s Wrestling National Invitational next March.
