Bravo to donors to Coats for Kids
The Jamestown Sun hands out these bravos this week:
*Bravo to the Pride of Dakota Harvest Showcase returning to Jamestown this weekend. The event featuring Pride of Dakota member companies is at the Jamestown Civic Center on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
*Bravo to Manufacturing Day being held this week at Harold Newman Arena on the University of Jamestown campus. High school students could learn more about careers in the manufacturing field at this event.
*Bravo to farmers being able to resume harvest after three weeks of wet weather and muddy conditions.
*Bravo to those people who donated to the annual Coats for Kids campaign in Jamestown. Coats and other winter apparel for children and adults were dropped off at collection sites at Ave Maria Village and the Salvation Army. The distribution of those items was held this week.
*Bravo to $34,000 being raised so far to help people in Ellendale who incurred damage to their homes following a July flood event in the city. About $100,000 in damage that was not covered by home insurance occurred during the event, and the $34,000 has been raised through the National Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster, a network of foundations and corporations that help identify grants and assistance for unmet disaster response. About 28 homes were damaged in Ellendale on July 19 when 6 to 8 inches of rain fell in a 24-hour period.
