The Jamestown Sun hands out these bravos and a buffalo chip this week:

  • Buffalo chip to the person or people who stole a flagpole and an American flag from New Home Lutheran Cemetery near Woodworth the week of July 12. Hopefully, someone will be able to provide information leading to their return.
  • Bravo to the athletes participating in the Olympics. Those participating have reached a certain level to compete and have been waiting to do so following a delay due to the coronavirus pandemic last year. It's also a time of uncertainty with COVID-19 cases occurring in athletes in Tokyo.
  • Bravo to missionaries from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, who photographed graves in North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, Montana and Nebraska in the last year and uploaded the photos to a database using the BillionGraves app or the website billiongraves.com. The work by the missionaries provides information that people can use who are tracing their genealogy, for example.

Editorials are the opinion of Jamestown Sun management and the newspaper’s editorial board.
