The signs are clear.
A new apartment building going up on 11th Street. Developers are appearing before local government bodies in an effort to get tax cuts on housing developments.
This time it's about a plan for a new subdivision called The Timbers that promises to bring more than 100 new homes into our community.
We are clearly moving in the right direction, however, we're not out of the woods yet. The surplus of jobs still available estimated to be 700 in Williams County alone is acting as a homing beacon to desperate job seekers elsewhere in the country. Some of them even know what the housing market is like here, but choose to take their chances anyway, choosing to camp out or sleep in a car.
We applaud the efforts of developers and government officials to bring quality, affordable housing to the emerging community that northwestern North Dakota is becoming.

That said, more development is still desperately needed.
