After watching and listening to the candidates that were interviewed on CSi Cable Wednesday evening, we have a few thoughts to express.

It is obvious that the voters in Jamestown and Stutsman County have a great opportunity to create some changes in local government. Voters should be fully committed to new blood and updates views by those in charge in Jamestown that will ensure growth and progress in our community.

We all understand that experience is a virtue in some cases. However, going backward to the same "good old boys" to run local government will only lead to stagnant and regressive community. Likewise, when a municipal judge is unopposed on the ballot, we stand to face no change in policy and attitude from a legal and judicial standpoint. Perhaps a write-in candidate should be considered when this occurs. It definitely creates a red flag where equality is concerned and we are extremely disappointed that there will again be no choice.

Hopefully, when we go to the polls next week, intimidation will not enter into our ability to demand change that is long past due. We all must let new and younger people step and bring good attitudes, ideas and leadership capabilities. It is time to pass the torch to new and qualified people to run local government. If not, progress will certainly not take place!
