Shortly our state legislators will be back at the Capitol developing policies that will enhance the lives of North Dakotans. No doubt the issue of abortion will be discussed with pro/con arguments for allowing/outlawing it.
May I suggest that if we are really pro-life we would establish policies that would enhance family life, such as adequate child care (which would require state-funded teacher pay), family maternity/paternity leave, leave to care for sick members of the family, generous tax credits for child care. Cost too much? How much money are politicians, churches and others spending to keep abortion illegal? How about you pro-life legislators following Archbishop Wester’s lead of working to establish in the constitution of Santa Fe, New Mexico, a permanent fund for early childhood education?
Are we putting our money where our pro-life rhetoric is?
