Top story of the week:- The Jamestown City Council on Thursday, Oct. 4, unanimously approved the 2022 budget for the fiscal period beginning Jan. 1.
The budget balances revenues and expenditures at a level about $630,000 above general fund revenue and expenditures 2021.
The budget includes a projected ending balance for 2022 of about $3.4 million.
The property tax budget for 2022 is more than $4.4 million of the city's $8.8 million revenue budget. The remainder of the funds comes from state and federal distributions, license fees, sales tax and charges for city services.
The City Council also went into executive session citing North Dakota Century Code 44-04-19.1 and 44-04-19.2 to consult with an attorney about risks and negotiation strategy of the city of Jamestown in regard to an alcohol violation appeal from Middles LLC, which does business as Fred’s Den.
