NORTH DAKOTA STATE BOARD OF HIGHER EDUCATION

On June 30, board members approved an operating and capital budget request, the chancellor's salary and university president salaries.
The proposed project, funded by $25 million in bonds, would demolish and replace six buildings on UND’s campus with one new advanced materials processing facility that could better accommodate the renewable energy research conducted by the EERC.
Gov. Doug Burgum announced Friday, June 17, that he appointed Creedence Energy Services co-founder Kevin Black to the board. Black runs a business that creates specialized chemical solutions for the oil industry, according to a news release.
Board members voted unanimously in favor of removing the testing requirement for admission at their regular monthly meeting on Thursday, May 26. The policy will go into effect on Aug. 1, 2023.

The eight-member Board of Higher Education oversees the North Dakota University System, which encompasses 11 public universities and colleges including North Dakota State University and the University of North Dakota.
Louters' first four-year term on the board was scheduled to conclude at the end of June and she was eligible for reappointment for a second term. In a statement on Friday, Louters said she has accepted a part-time position with the North Dakota State University Extension Service.

The creation of the programs, and the termination of one, show action on the part of individual campuses to create needed programs in the state, said North Dakota University System Chancellor Mark Hagerott.

Hirning has local ties to Williston and North Dakota. He graduated from Williston State (formerly UND-Williston) with an associate degree. He also obtained his bachelor's and master's degrees at Minot State.
Dr. Joshua Wynne said the university system is still closely measuring the number of active coronavirus cases on the state’s campuses and any possible virus variants that might affect the schools.
