Tied 2-2 early in the second period, things unraveled quickly for the Jamestown High School hockey team Thursday night at the Pepsi Center in Mandan.

The Braves, who entered the game with a 1-2 record, scored seven unanswered goals to blow past the Blue Jays 9-2.

Down 2-0 after giving up a pair of power play goals, the Blue Jays leveled it with the last score of the opening 17 minutes and the first of the second.

Nick Jensen scored at the 11:19 mark of the first period on the power ply to cut Mandan's lead in half. Ben Sorenson got an assist on the goal.

Just 1:07 into the second period they got the equalizer from Andrew Yatskis, who scored unassisted to level it at 2-2 with nearly two full periods to play.

From there it was all Braves, however.

Trevor Huck gave Mandan the lead at the 5:12 mark of the second and they added two more in the frame, getting goals from Zach Vollan and Jon Dobier.

They really poured it on in the third, wasting little time when Steve Serr scored past Tygh Yatskis just 45 seconds into the period and the rout was on. Austin Riopelle scored twice in the third period and Dobier tallied his second of the game.

Yatskis, a freshman, was peppered with 45 shots, highlighted by a busy 21-save first period to keep the Jays in the game.

Mandan sophomore netminder Ryder Quipido saw just 20 pucks, stopping 18.

The Blue Jays, who fell to 1-6-1 overall and 1-5-1 in the West, face Fargo Shanley in a non-region game Tuesday night at Wilson Arena.
