The Jimmies went 1-2 in their three tune-ups, heading into a tough weekend in Iowa.

Coach Greg Ulland, who spent four seasons as an assistant coach prior to returning to his alma mater, was very pleased with his team's play.

"We were extremely proud of how hard the girls played and the way they battled," Ulland said. "They came out with a lot of pressure, but after the initial shock, our girls settled in and played very well."

Nicole Smart led four UND players in double figures with 15 points.

Sophomore post Bridget Schuneman had another quality outing for the Jimmies, finishing with 15 points and eight rebounds.

"She's playing well and giving us a strong presence inside," Ulland said.

Krista Shaikoski, the lone senior playing major minutes for the Jimmies, added 14 points. The Fergus Falls native buried four of her five three-point tries.

The Jimmies get thrown right into the NAIA fire on Friday when they travel to Orange City, Iowa to face the No. 1-ranked Northwestern Red Raiders.

"Now it counts for real, but I really like the progress the girls have made from the first time we stepped on the court in Mayville to where we are right now," Ulland said. "If we can continue to make the progress we have so far, we'll be in very good shape."

After facing Northwestern Friday, the Jimmies play Dordt on Saturday.
