The University of Jamestown volleyball team is ranked No. 17 in the NAIA top 25 preseason poll.

Also, the Jimmies are picked to finish second in the North Star Athletic Association behind only Viterbo. The V-Hawks are ranked No. 6 in the preseason rankings.

The Jimmies open the season Aug. 25-26 at Montreat College (N.C.) with four matches.

In the NSAA soccer polls, both the UJ men and women are picked third.

The men’s team opens the season with back-to-back matches Sept. 9-10 at Hastings, Neb. The women host Northwestern (Iowa) on Monday at 3:30 p.m.

Women’s wrestling                                                                                                  gets new home

The UJ women’s wrestling team has joined the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference as an associate member.

It’s the first time the program has had a conference home. Other teams in the conference include Midland (Neb.), Missouri Valley College, Ottawa (Kan.) and Saint Mary (Kan.).
