The University of Jamestown women's volleyball team lost a single-set tiebreaker 25-21 to Viterbo University on Thursday night, Nov. 29, at the NAIA national tournament in Sioux City, Iowa. Jamestown's season comes to a close after 24 victories.
Viterbo advances to tomorrow's round of 16 elimination bracket and will play Northwestern (Iowa), the top seed of Pool H at 26-8 overall, at 9 a.m.
Jamestown and Viterbo both finished national championship pool play at 2-1. The Jimmies defeated Saint Xavier (Ill.) 3-0 on the final day of pool play Thursday, while the V-Hawks outlasted Southern Oregon 3-2. Southern Oregon, at 2-1, also advanced to the round of 16 as the top seed of Pool G. The top two teams from each of the eight, four-team pools in competition advance to the final round of 16.
Jamestown was attempting to reach the round of 16 for a second consecutive season. The Jimmies had swept Viterbo 3-0 during pool play on Wednesday.
