Haley Nelson won all four events during the dual, including an 8.75 on the bars.

"I think when we head to that neck of the woods it's a different story," said Blue Jay coach Dave Tews. "The floor we got shorted on I think, but we had 5 of 6 kids stay on the beam.

"Overall I was pretty happy, but we could've done better on a few more events. We can't be perfect, like we think we can."

Jamestown hosts Grand Forks, Wahpeton and Valley City in a quadrangular at Jamestown Gymnastics Club on Saturday at 11 a.m.

"Grand Forks has been 3-4 points ahead of us, so hopefully we can close that gap with them," Tews said. "With only five entries today, the pressure was on the other three. With Valley City and Wahpeton, they're coming on pretty good and hopefully we can widen the gap."

Lakers defeat Blue Jay hockey

Detroit Lake's (Minn.) Trey Seebold scored a hat trick Tuesday against Jamestown High School boys hockey as the Lakers defeated the Blue Jays 6-1 at Kent Freeman Arena.

Jamestown's Tommy Falk scored the lone Blue Jay goal in the second period to cut the lead in half at 2-1. Detroit Lakes would rip off four goals in the final frame to pull away with the victory.

The Blue Jays' backup goalie Brode Hillstrom made 51 saves in net, compared to the Lakers' Blake Itzen's 11.

Jamestown (6-9-1) travels to West Fargo Sheyenne (2-12-1) on Thursday for non-conference action.
