UJ's Pilat earns GPAC honors

University of Jamestown's Drake Pilat was named Great Plains Athletic Conference baseball player of the week Tuesday, April 23.

Pilat, a senior from Winnipeg, Manitoba, batted 10-for-14 (.714) to help the Jimmies win three of four games against Morningside College over the weekend at Jack Brown Stadium, which included a pair of three-hit performances and a home run. The 10-hit weekend raised Pilat's average 37 points to .414 and he currently leads the GPAC in overall average (.414) and conference batting average (.453).

University of Jamestown's Jenna Knutson was named Great Plains Athletic Conference women's golfer of the week on Tuesday.

Knutson, a senior from Boulder, Colo., carded a personal-best 75 in both rounds to win the Dordt Spring Invite in Sioux Center, Iowa. The Jimmies placed second in the eight-team field, with Knutson's 36-hole score of 150 becoming a new Jamestown record.

UJ also set a record for lowest team score for a 36-hole event with back-to-back totals of 313.
