The University of Jamestown softball team wrapped up its regular season on Sunday, April 28, in Sioux City, Iowa.

The Jimmies (27-17, 11-11 GPAC) dropped two games to Morningside College (25-8, 18-4) by the scores of 6-2 and 7-1. Jamestown has earned a spot to travel to this week's Great Plains Athletic Conference tournament but its destiny won't be finalized until Monday (April 29), following the conclusion of a doubleheader between No. 22 Midland University and Northwestern College.

A five-run Morningside fourth inning sunk the Jimmies in game 1, which included a two-run homer off the bat of Aston Whited. UJ's Morgan Geiszler drove in both Jamestown runs in the top of the first with a double, as Katie Merchant shouldered the loss in the circle.

Jamestown posted 10 hits in the finale, but left 10 runners on base and plated just a lone run in the seventh behind a Meghan Ramage RBI double. The Mustangs wasted little time in staking themselves to a 5-0 lead, with Rebecca Riley connecting for a grand slam off UJ starter Samm Hamilton.

Jamestown's leadoff tandem of Mikayla Frost (3-for-4) and Allie McCain (2-for-3) provided five of the Jimmies' 10 hits.
