Elks, Hounds victorious at Jack Brown
The Jamestown Elks defeated Tolna 2-0 in amateur baseball action Sunday at Jack Brown Stadium. The Elks' Ben Pedigo homered in the first inning, Boya Quichocho added a pair of hits and Ryan Iliff earned the complete game shutout on the mound.
The Jamestown Hounds later defeated the Elks 5-4. The Hounds' Jake Stilwell singled to plate Nolan Kratz with the go-ahead score in the bottom of the seventh.
Stilwell was also the game's winning pitcher, tossing in relief of Jesse Johnson who struckout six in five innings of work. The Hounds' Justin Connell hit a two-run homer and doubled, while Tyler Ukestad collected a pair of hits. Quichocho paced the Elks with a pair of hits.
Hillcrest men's day winners
Matt Burgard's second shot on Hole 6 came within 5 feet and one-half inch of the pin at Hillcrest Golf Course on June 6, claiming top honors during men's day activities.
Closest to the pin honors included: Dennis Wiest, Hole 7 (13 feet, 2 inches); Dennis Wiexel, Hole 8 (15-6); Lloyd Landscoot, Hole 15 (5-10); and Scott Miller, Hole 17 (4-8). Dion Schlenker scored the longest putt on Hole 9 (5-8).
Terry Davis scored the most 4s (10) to claim the mystery tournament, while deuce post winners were Roger Fisher (2), Ernie Williams (1) and Jason Lorenz (1), and Roger Koenig won the door prize.
