Tournament No. 6 is in the books for the Jamestown High School girls golf team. The Blue Jays competed at the St. Mary's Invitational at Riverwood Golf Course in Bismarck on Tuesday, Sept. 3.

Jamestown was led by Kyra Vogel who carded an 86 -- her first, and the team's second, score in the 80s so far this season. Senior Alyssa Zachrison carded a 94 for the Jays and Bria Nieswaag rounded out the Jays' top three with a 101.

Olivia Sorlie fired a 109 in her second varsity tournament, and the Jays' No. 5 golfer, Isabel LeFevre, ended the tournament with 119. The Jays turned in a 390 all told, finishing in a tie with Bismarck Legacy for seventh place in the nine-team West Region tournament.

Head coach Tracy Gustafson and her squad will resume play on Friday, Sept. 13, at Vardon Golf Club in Minot. The tournament will serve as the individual qualifier for the state touranment and will begin at 9 a.m.

Hollingsworth earns GPAC honors

University of Jamestown senior Sydney Hollingsworth was named Great Plains Athletic Conference player of the week in the sports of women's soccer.

Hollingsworth, from San Leandro, California, tallied a natural hat trick in the second half of UJ's 7-1 win over York (Neb.) last Friday at Jimmie Turf Field. Her three goals came in a span of 6 minutes, 22 seconds.

The Jimmies will be back in action on Sunday, Sept. 8, hosting Rocky Mountain College. The match is scheduled to begin at 12 p.m.
