Optimist Club's weekly athletes

Ben Anteau, Ella Roaldson, Lindi Chadwick and Noah Mang were named Jamestown Optimist Club athletes of the week.

Anteau, a junior on the Blue Jay boys cross county team, set a new personal best of 16 minutes, 13 seconds in the 5,000 meters as Jamestown's No. 2 finisher at the Souris Valley Invitational last Saturday in Minot. The Jays finished third out of 30 teams.

Roaldson, a junior on the Blue Jay volleyball team, led the Jays with 16 kills and three blocks in a big conference win over Bismarck.

Chadwick, a senior on the Jimmie women's cross country team from Jamestown, ran a career-best 5k (20:37) to place 18th of 48 runners at the Jimmie Invitational held last Friday at the course at Parkhurst Recreation Area.

Mang, a sophomore on the Jimmie men's cross country team from West Chester, Ohio, recorded a career-best 8k (29:20) to place 29th of 58 runners at the Jimmie Invite.

Rockets, Cards top polls

Langdon/Edmore/Munich and New Rockford-Sheyenne stand atop the latest Class A and 9-man statewide media rankings, respectively.

Langdon received all 18 first-place votes, while New Rockford-Sheyenne garnered 16 of 18. The Rockets (6-0) travel to face No. 2 Cavalier (7-0) on Friday. Cavalier received the other two 9-man first-place votes.

Carrington tourney postponed

The Carrington Varsity Volleyball Tournament scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 12, has been postponed due to the potential of hazardous weather forecasted for Thursday-Saturday. The tournament has been rescheduled for Saturday, Oct. 19.
