Jamestown High School has overtaken the top spot in the Class A boys basketball statewide media rankings released Wednesday, Jan. 15.

The Blue Jays (9-1) received 5 of 7 first-place votes and tallied 32 points. Fargo Davies (9-1) dropped to second, receiving one first-place vote and 29 points, after falling 77-69 at Grand Forks Central last Saturday.

The Jays host Watford City this Friday beginning with the girls varsity game at 5:45 p.m. and the boys to follow at 7:45.

Pinochle tournament

Jamestown Parks and Rec will be hosting its Cabin Fever Pinochle Tournament on Saturday, Feb. 1. The tournament will begin at 10 a.m. at Hillcrest Pro Shop.

Registration fee if $13 per person and includes lunch and a beverage. Seating is limited. Sign up at the Parks and Rec main office (1002, 2nd Ave. SE).

Spring coed volleyball

Jamestown Parks and Recreation spring coed volleyball teams are currently forming.

Registration forms are available at the Parks and Rec main office and at www.jamestownparksandrec.com. The per-team registration fee of $200 is due Jan. 29.

Youth basketball program

Jamestown Parks and Recreation will be offering a basketball program for boys in grades 1-4.

The program will be Saturday mornings at Two Rivers Activity Center beginning Feb. 1. Register online at www.jamestownparksandrec.com.
