Optimist Club's weekly athletes

Alex Goodrie, the Blue Jay wrestling team, Agatha Andrews and Braedon Knutson were named Jamestown Optimist Club Athletes of The Week.

Goodrie, a Jamestown High School sophomore, has swum to four state swim meet qualifying times. Goodrie will swim the 50-yard freestyle, 200 free, 500 free and the 100 butterfly. The 2020 state meet is scheduled to be held at the Hurlburt Aquatics Center in West Fargo on March 5-6.

A 7-3 record has sent the Jamestown High School boys wrestling team to the Class A dual tournament for the first time since 2003. The Jays ended the regular season with a 48-25 win over WDA rival Bismarck Legacy last week. JHS clinched the No. 4 seed in the West. The 2020 season marks the first time the Blue Jays will compete in Fargo as a Western Dakota Association member.

Andrews, a sophomore on the Jimmie women's wrestling team from Akiak, Alaska, finished second in the 191-pound weight class at the WCNA Nationals in Marrietta, Georgia. Andrews pinned three consecutive opponents en route to the championship match.
