The ball took a couple of bad bounces for the Jamestown High School girls golf team Tuesday in Bismarck,

The Blue Jays finished sixth out of nine teams at their second tournament of the season turning in a team score of 384. Bismarck Century topped the leaderboard at 354 while Minot placed second with a score of 355.

"The shots just weren't falling exactly for us," head coach Tracy Gustafson said. "Some of the shots just took a bad bounce or having to take an unfortunate penalty stroke - just some of those kinds of weird things were just kind of happening frequently to us today."

Senior Cora Wolsky tied with Century's Riley Crothers for a ninth-place finish turning in a 90. Junior Bria Nieswaag shot for a 94 while Lauryn Hibl placed 15th carding a 98. Freshman Olivia Sorlie rounded out the top four with a 102 while Grace Lefevre ended the day with 120.

Blue Jay senior Kyra Vogel did not finish the round due to fatigue.

"We know it's early on so we have a lot of room to make some changes but hopefully we can do that at the next tournament."

The Jays will be back in action on Monday at Phesant County Golf Course in South Heart. The tournament is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. Central Time.

Demons defeat Blue Jays

The Jamestown High School boys soccer team fell to Bismarck High in the team's season opener Tuesday night. The Demons outshot the Jays 20-2 to rack up the 6-0 victory.

Jay Kupitz had 15 saves for the Jays helping limit the Demons to just one goal in the first half.

The Jays will travel to Mandan Thursday. The opening kick is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
