Blue Jay wrestlers ranked

Jamestown High School wrestling is well-represented in the latest rankings, as voted on by coaches and released Wednesday, Jan. 13.

The Blue Jays are ranked fifth in the state and fourth in the West Region as a team, and have seven individuals ranked inside the West Region top four in their respective weight classes: Pete Rasmussen (No. 3 at 113), Aden Braun (No. 2 and 126), Joel Bowman (No. 3 at 132), Colton Mewes (No. 1 at 160), Jackson Walters (No. 4 at 170), Austin Kessler (No. 2 at 220) and Damien Krebs (No. 1 at 285).

Jamestown is scheduled to be in action Friday hosting Dickinson at 7 p.m. at Jerry Meyer Arena.

Jays hold No. 5 spot

Jamestown High School boys basketball held firm at No. 5 in the latest Class A basketball state media ranking released Wednesday, Jan. 13.

The Blue Jays host Watford City this Saturday with girls varsity action beginning at 1:45 p.m.

UJ men garner votes

The University of Jamestown men's basketball team is the eighth team outside the top 25 to receive votes in the latest NAIA coaches' poll released Wednesday, Jan. 13.

The Jimmies (12-4, 8-3 GPAC) collected 25 points in the voting, 11 points ahead of rival Valley City State University. Great Plains Athletic Conference teams also appearing in the poll include 11th-ranked Dakota Wesleyan (13-2, 9-1) and 15th-ranked Morningside (13-2, 9-2).

Both Jimmie men's and women's basketball will be in action Thursday evening on the road at Dordt University beginning at 6 p.m.
