The University of Jamestown Men’s Soccer team’s three game winning streak came to an end at the hands of Concordia University, 3-0. The loss drops the Jimmies to 5-5-2 overall and 3-3-1 in the GPAC this season. The win improves the Bulldogs record to 3-3-1 in the GPAC this season.

The Jimmies and Bulldogs fought through a consistent, hard rainstorm in which puddles were developing on the field. The puddles were so big that at points the ball would stop in its tracks in the puddles and make it hard for the players to dribble in that part of the field, near the Jimmies bench. The effort to get rid of the puddles was a team effort with multiple people using shovels and squeegees to attempt to get rid of the water.

The Bulldogs got on the board first in the 39th minute when the Jimmies Hendrik Romahn turned the ball over in his own half allowing Yessine Bessaies in on goal making the score 1-0 in favor of the Bulldogs. The Bulldogs would find the score sheet again when David Moreno got in on goal and rifled one past Jimmies goalie Alex Hamer to double the Bulldogs lead. The final goal was scored when a Jimmie fouled Martin Herrera from around 25 yards outside of the box. Herrera stepped up and sniped one into the upper right hand corner of the net to make the score 3-0 in favor of the Bulldogs.

The Jimmies would continue to get chances but struggled to do anything as the rain continued to pound down. After the third goal, the Jimmies got three more chances with all of them not being on target.

The message after this game from Jimmies head coach Connor Campbell was one shared by all of his players, frustration.

“I mean, it wasn’t a whole lot of yelling or anything like that cause it’s messages that we’ve heard before. It was just that it’s frustrating knowing that we can play better. We know that we are a team that can play really well but we just didn’t and it’s frustrating to make the same mistakes over again,” Campbell said. “There are just certain things that we need to get better at but we’re running out of time to get better at it.”

The Jimmies look to start another winning streak when they go to Mount Marty University on Oct. 13 at 6:30 p.m. The Bulldogs are back in action on Oct. 16 when they go to Hastings College at 8:00 p.m.
