Allmer, Larson, Olson, Ellingson named Optimist Club's weekly athletes

Thomas Allmer, Allysah Larson, Tate Olson and Sydney Ellingson were selected Jamestown Optimist Club Athletes of the Week for the week of March 29 through April 4.

Thomas Allmer, Allysah Larson, Tate Olson and Sydney Ellingson were selected Jamestown Optimist Club Athletes of the Week for the week of March 29 through April 4.

Allmer, a junior on the Blue Jay boys track and field team, placed sixth in the shot put at the WDA Indoor, clearing a personal record by 1 foot, 10 inches.

Larson, a freshman on the Blue Jay girls track and field team, placed first in the 200 meters, third in the 60, fourth in the 800 relay and eighth in the long jump at the WDA Indoor held at the University of Mary in Bismarck.

Olson, a junior on the Jimmie men's golf team from Cook, Minnesota, finished runner-up at the Park University Spring Classic held at The Deuce at National Golf Club in Kansas City, Missouri. Battling winds gusting to 45 mph, Olson scored rounds of 81 and 73.

Ellingson, a senior on the Jimmie women's volleyball team from Langdon, North Dakota, registered 20 digs -- 6.7 per game -- as the Jimmies notched their 24th win of the season with a 2-0 victory over Morningside in the GPAC tournament quarterfinals. Ellingson has accumulated 1,327 digs in her UJ career, needing only 70 more to move into the school's top 10 in all-time leaders.
