Post 14 drops a pair

Jamestown American Legion Post 14 baseball dropped a pair of exhibition contests Monday against the Bismarck 15s in Bismarck.

Post 14 jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the seven-inning opener, before Bismarck scored three runs in both the fourth and fifth innings, and sealed a 10-5 win with a four-run sixth. Bismarck escaped with a 5-4 win in the five-inning nightcap, walking off Post 14 with a three-run fifth.

The Bismarck 15s are a Babe Ruth Baseball team consisting of 15-year-old players. Jamestown hosts the Aberdeen Jr. Legion Smittys this Wednesday at Jack Brown Stadium beginning at 5 p.m.

Blue Jay Scramble set for June 30

The annual Blue Jay Scramble is scheduled for June 30 at Hillcrest Golf Course.

Cost for the four-person scramble is $50 per player, which includes green fees, mulligans, prizes and lunch. A shotgun start set for 9:30 a.m.

Class B all-state softball teams

Maddy Sweep, Halie Holzer and Lexi Buhr of the 2018 Class B softball state champion Central Cass Squirrels headline this spring's Class B softball all-state team, as voted on by the state's coaches.

A total of 17 athletes were selected to the team.
