WDA baseball, softball delayed
Friday's second day of the West Region baseball tournament was rained out and rescheduled for today, May 25.
Jamestown (13-11) will play Minot (17-12) at 12:30 p.m. in a loser-out game at Shiloh Christian's Dwyer Field. The full schedule can be found in today's Scoreboard on page B2.
The West Region softball tournament in Minot was also hampered by inclement weather Friday, forcing Jamestown's loser-out contest against Mandan to an approximate 9 p.m. start. The game was still ongoing at press time.
Rudnick, Mielke named all-WDA
Jamestown High School's Peyton Rudnick and Amaya Mielke were selected to the 2019 all-WDA girls soccer team Thursday, May 23, as voted on by region coaches.
Rudnick, a senior forward, and Mielke, a junior midfielder/defender, were two of 23 athletes named all-WDA. The Blue Jays (5-8-2) will open the Class A state girls soccer tournament in Jamestown next Thursday, May 30, at noon against the East Region's top seed.

Class B baseball state seeding
Carrington High School baseball will play Shiloh Christian in the quarterfinals of the Class B Baseball State Tournament on Thursday, May 30, at Newman Outdoor Field in Fargo.
The state tournament seeding was announced Friday, with the top five teams being ranked by coaches of the state-qualifying teams and the remaining seeds determined through random draw.

Hillcrest men's day winners
Dave Nelson sank the longest putt on Hole 9 during Hillcrest Men's Association activities at the course on May 23. Nelson's putt clanked the cup from exactly 11 feet.
Closest to the pin winners were: Roger Fisher, Hole 7 (12 feet, 1 inch); Doug Wahl, Hole 8 (20-3); Terry Davis, Hole 15 (3-3.5); and Clint Tompt, Hole 17 (22-6). Wahl also scored the second closest shot on Hole 3 (25-6).
Alden Kollman was the deuce pot winner and tied Terry Davis for most birdies to share mystery tournament honors. John Englebrecht snatched up the door prize.
