Jamestown High School swept Dickinson in a West Region basketball doubleheader Friday night west of the Missouri.

Mason Walters (19 points), John Horgan (14), Boden Skunberg (11) and Ryder Lunzman (10) lead a team effort offensively for the Blue Jay boys, en route to a 71-60 victory over the Midgets. Skunberg also posted 11 boards to record a double-double.

Jamestown converted 24 of 63 from the field and forced the home team into 22 turnovers. The Blue Jays built a 37-26 lead at the half.

Dickinson was led by Conner Hoenke with 14 points.

The Blue Jay girls dismantled Dickinson 69-37 behind four players scoring in double figures. Sophomore Kameron Selvig led the way with 14 points, followed by Megan Gaffaney (13), Katherine Horgan (13) and Alyssa Ukestad (10).

Jamestown erupted to a 36-14 lead at the half. Ukestad nailed a pair of 3-pointer before the break, and Selvig also knocked one in from downtown

The Blue Jays continue its western North Dakota road trip today at Williston.

Minot hockey tops Blue Jays

The Magicians scored four straight goals Friday against visiting Jamestown High School to top the Blue Jays 5-1 in boys hockey.

Minot's Ian Abrahamson, Zach Petersen, Sam Opozda and Logan Braaten all found the mesh to give the Magicians a stranglehold on the lead at 4-0 with less than 10 minutes remaining in the second period. Jamestown's Bryce Nelson, assisted by Devin Hofmann, tallied Jamestown's score in the 14th minute of the second, but by then the damage had been done.

Minot edged the Jays in shots at 36-32. Jamestown's Matthew Schneider and Minot's Odin Nelson both ended the night with 31 saves between the pipes.

Jamestown (5-4-0, 8-5-0) entered the game tied with Bismarck Century at the top of the West Region hockey standings with 15 points. The Blue Jays host Dickinson on Tuesday at Wilson Arena.
