VERMILLION, S.D. - The University of South Dakota women’s basketball team is ranked No. 25 in Monday’s AP Top 25 women’s poll, the first Summit League program to be ranked since the 2008-09 season.
According to the school, the Coyotes (22-3) are just the third Summit League team to be ranked in history, joining South Dakota State (2008-09) and Northern Illinois (1993-94).
The Coyotes have beat then-No. 23 Iowa State and then-No. 22 Missouri this season. The Coyotes had received votes the first 10 weeks of the season.
"It is certainly an exciting day for our young ladies to receive this recognition nationally by the AP Top 25 poll for the hard work that they have put in so far this season," USD head coach Dawn Plitzuweit said.
Baylor (21-1) remained as No. 1, followed by Louisville (23-1) and Oregon (23-1)
The University of Minnesota received two votes and South Dakota State one.
