CLASS B ROUNDUP: KC holds off LHMB; Allen tops 1,000 points
Madelyn Schmidt hit the go-ahead jumper in overtime for top-ranked Kidder County as the Wolves survived Linton-HMB 71-68 in the District 6 girls basketball tournament championship held Monday at Wishek High School.
Schmidt's jumper was the first KC lead since the first quarter. The Lions' Teegan Scherr had a chance to tie the contest at 69-all from the free-throw line, but sank 1 of 2 freebies and forced L-HMB to foul.
South Border and Medina-Pingree-Buchanan will be joining Kidder County and L-HMB in the Region 3 tournament Feb. 18-21 at the Jamestown Civic Center.
Allen tops 1,000 for MPB
Medina-Pingree-Buchanan's Amanda Allen surpassed 1,000 career points during the District 6 girls basketball tournament on Monday, Feb. 11, in Wishek.
Allen, from Pingree, scored 31 points to help the Thunder defeat Napoleon-Gackle-Streeter 67-49. Allen, a University of Jamestown women's basketball recruit, has totaled 1,015 points since her freshman season.
