University of Jamestown men's basketball standouts Jon Purintun and Kevin Oberweiser each achieved NAIA Division II All-American status Thursday, March 14.

The pair of Jimmie senior guards were two of 10 athletes selected to the NAIA D-II All-America third team. Purintun and Oberweiser led UJ (29-6) to its first national tournament appearance in six years earlier this month, reaching the round of 16 before falling to eventual national champion Spring Arbor (Mich.) at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, S.D.

Both Oberweiser (675) and Purintun (665) surpassed 600 points in 2018-19, and each scored over 1,100 points in their careers for the Jimmies. Oberweiser posted per-game averages of 19.3 points and 5.5 rebounds this past season, while Purintun averaged 19 points and 3.1 rebounds.

Oberweiser has been selected to play in the NAIA men's basketball all-star game March 26 in Kansas City, Mo., where he will also be a 3-point contestant in the NAIA Shoot & Slam competition March 23.
