Blue Jays remain No. 1 following victory

Jamestown High School boys basketball received 13 of 18 first-place votes to remain on top of the Class A media ranking Wednesday.

Jamestown High School boys basketball received 13 of 18 first-place votes to remain on top of the Class A media ranking Wednesday.

The Blue Jays opened the season Tuesday with an 84-75 victory over previously fifth-ranked Bismarck Legacy at Jerry Meyer Arena. The Sabers are one of four teams receiving votes.

Fargo Davies (2-0) received the remaining five first-place votes and trail JHS by seven points in the ranking. The Eagles have wins over Wahpeton and Valley City -- topping 100 points in each contest -- and are at fifth-ranked West Fargo Sheyenne (0-1) on Friday. The Mustangs opened the season ranked No. 2 and fell 87-84 to third-ranked West Fargo on Tuesday.

The Blue Jays are scheduled to host Bismarck St. Mary's (0-1) on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. The Saints are coming off a three-point loss hosting Minot.
