Jamestown finished off a lopsided opening round of the West Region volleyball tournament in Minot on Thursday night.
The Blue Jays routed Mandan 25-16, 25-14, 25-18 to move within one win of a trip to the state tournament. After Bismarck Century, Bismarck High and Bismarck Legacy each swept, the third-seeded Blue Jays set up a semifinal showdown with Legacy with a commanding win over the Braves.
"We played really good, disciplined volleyball," JHS coach Sara Hegerle said. "We didn't let things get out of our control one way or the other."
Mackenzie Clark clubbed 16 kills for the Blue Jays. Courtney Peterson added 10.
"Both Mackenzie and Courtney had a pretty high hitting percentage," Hegerle said.

McKayla Kurtz added seven kills. Megan Gaffaney led in assists (34), aces (3) and blocks (1). She was also one of five Jays in double figures in digs with 13. Olivia Nihill's 16 led the way.
"I thought we looked like a really mature group when the match started and that's how we finished it," Hegerle said. "We served tough. We had them out of system a lot."
Jamestown and Legacy split its two matches during the regular season with each winning on the other's home floor. Tonight's match is the final of four on the day.
"They looked pretty solid today," Hegerle said of Legacy. "It's good to start the weekend strong. We're looking forward to (today's) match."
