The Midkota Mustangs of Midkota, Dakota Prairie, Griggs County Central and Lakota, defended its home field in Glenfield on Tuesday with a 5-2 victory over visiting South Border.
Cole Hendrickson pitched six innings of two-run baseball with five strikeouts in the winning effort, with Cade Stein collecting the save in the seventh and also clubbing a double and driving in two runs at the plate.
South Border's Seth Wolf shouldered the loss, allowing four earned runs on seven hits and four walks. Marshall Lindgren batted 3-for-4 with a double for South Border and Trentan Finck went 2-for-4.
Midkota (4-6, 2-4 Region 3) is at Kidder County/Napoleon/Gackle-Streeter (4-6, 3-3) on Thursday in Steele. South Border (4-5, 1-5) makes the trek to Steele on Friday to face the Wolves.
