The two were pretty evenly matched but it was the home team that pulled out the win.
Ellendale defeated Edgeley/Kulm-Montpelier in a 25-22, 19-25, 19-25, 25-15, 15-12, five-set battle Tuesday night. The Cardinals improved to 4-9 while EKM fell to 1-12.
Ellendale's Abby Molan and Morgan Fischer didn't make things easy for EKM's defensive specialist Macy Boyer. Boyer patrolled the Rebels' back row Passing up 31 balls to Sydney Carlson. Molan and Fischer combined for 33 kills while Abby Peterson added nine to the stat sheets.
EKM's front row was anchored by Emily Kinzler (13 kills) and Grace Irey (11).
Ellendale will be at South Border (8-7) while the Rebels will host Napoleon/Gackle-Streeter (3-6) on Monday. Both games are scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.

Loboes take down Bison
Barnes County North couldn't stop Heidi Steffes at the net Tuesday night.
Steffes helped the LaMoure/Litchville-Marion volleyball team to a 3-1 win over the Bison in the Loboes last scheduled game of the season. The Loboes are now 10-6 and 4-2 in the Region 3, District 5 standings. BCN is 6-9 and ranked fourth in District 5.
Steffes topped the kill charts for the Loboes drilling 14 balls past the Bison's defense. The freshman middle hitter also made six rejections at the net. Molly Musland was also a threat on the court swinging for 11 kills and popped up 11 balls in the back row.

LaMoure/LM does not have any more regular-season games scheduled. BCN is set to host Kindred (8-2) on Monday at 7 p.m.

Oakes cruises past Thunder
Oakes remains at the top of District 5 with a recent four-game win over Medina/Pingree-Buchanan Tuesday night.
While the Thunder fell to the Tornadoes -- they went down swinging.
Freshman outside Allison Thomas put the ball away 13 times and fed it to setter Lilly Bohl 14 times from the back row. Freshman libero Alaina Bosche and Abby Helm combined for another 31 digs while Emily Carlson shot up 11 balls.

Both teams will be in action again on Monday at 7 p.m. Oakes (14-1) is slated to host Richland (8-3) while MPB (8-6) will host Carrington (10-4).
