Jimmies wrestling falls 34-12 at Dakota Wesleyan

MITCHELL, S.D. — The University of Jamestown opened its 2023 GPAC schedule with a 34-12 loss to Dakota Wesleyan University on Tuesday, Jan. 10, at the DWU/Avera Sports and Wellness Complex.

The Jimmies’ Elijah Barajas started off the dual with a tech fall win over the Tigers’ Will Farren in the 125-pound match before the Jimmies suffered a string of six straight losses. The run was finally ended by the Jimmies’ Trystan Rogers who got a major decision win over the Tigers’ Payton Planasky in the 184-pound match. The Jimmies kept it going in the next match when Jake Rau got a 9-3 decision win over the Tigers’ Colten Hink in the 197-pound match.

The loss is the second time in three duals that the Jimmies have been shutout.

The final match of the dual saw the Tigers’ Trevion Sample get a fall win over the Jimmies’ Eli Noonan.

The Jimmies are back in action at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 13, when they host Northwestern College and Dickinson State.
