Mason Walters commits to Wyoming men's hoops

Walters leaves the Jimmies men's program as the school's all time leading scorer.

LARAMIE, Wyoming — After a recent visit to the University of Wyoming, Mason Walters has committed to the Cowboys in a tweet on Wednesday, April 12. The former University of Jamestown men’s basketball player tweeted simply, “Go Cowboys. Committed”.

The Jamestown native will be spending his extra season of eligibility with the Cowboys. In his four years with the Jimmies, Walters averaged 22.4 points per game, and 10.4 rebounds per game, with 131 total blocks and 265 total assists. Walters owns multiple career and season records including most points in a career and single season with 2,662 career points and 904 points in the 2022-23 season.

Walters is joining a Cowboys squad that went 9-21 last season, but 25-9 in the 2021-22 season, making the First Four of the NCAA Tournament. Walters joins the Cowboys’ 144th-ranked recruiting class in the country, according to On3sports.com.
