Cumberland wins NAIA baseball championship

Second-ranked Cumberland University beat No. 4 Lee University 4-3 in an all Tennessee championship at the NAIA World Series in Lewiston, Idaho, late Thursday night.

Second-ranked Cumberland University beat No. 4 Lee University 4-3 in an all Tennessee championship at the NAIA World Series in Lewiston, Idaho, late Thursday night.

The title was the second in seven seasons for Cumberland (58-9), which also won the 2004 crown.

Lee (52-14) earned runner-up honors for the second time in three seasons.

NAIA player of the year Matt Greener had two hits for Cumberland. David Fanshawe added a pair of hits and drove in all four runs.

Aaron Wilkerson went the distance on the mound to get the win.

Cumberland went undefeated at 3-0 in the tournament.
