Friday: Moose units M4, M8, M9, M10 and M11 open.

Saturday: Pheasant and fall turkey seasons open.

Monday through Oc. 15: National Wildlife Refuge Week.

Fishing:

N.D. Game & Fish Dept. Dist. game wardens: Weather and water temperatures continue making fall fishing a viable option. Fish moving more towards the shallows. Lake Sakakawea remains fair for salmon longlining along the face of the dam. Not much activity in the bays yet. Missouri River fair for walleye with fish running a little smaller.

Devils Lake, Ed's Bait & Tackle, Devils Lake: Continued small walleye success jigging deeper water around rock piles or trolling the Golden Highway. Also try the bridges in the morning and evening. Bigger fish still coming from the shallows pulling crankbaits.

Devils Lake, Lakeview Lodge, Devils Lake: Fewer anglers on the water but those going continue finding good small walleye success.

Devils Lake, Woodland Resort, Creel Bay, Devils Lake: Continued fair to good for walleye. Work rock piles in deeper water for bigger fish. Some areas include New Mil or Old Mil bays, the towers and the main lake.

Jamestown Reservoir, Dan's Sooper Stop, Jamestown: Access remains limited but those going out are still finding fair walleye success.

Jamestown Reservoir, Pioneer Bait Shop, Jamestown: Good numbers of anglers on the lake with the nice weather. Fair to good for crappie but slower for walleye.

Lake Ashtabula, Bayshore, Valley City: Fair to good for smallmouth bass, perch and walleye. Try around Baldhill Creek and other areas of the lake.

Lake Sakakawea, Scott's Bait & Tackle, Pick City: Lake Sakakawea continued producing salmon longlining with crankbaits near the spillway or intake. Some activity in the bays. No walleye reports. Missouri River remains good for trout, salmon and walleye. Try jigging in the holes or pulling crankbaits. Water releases have slowed, which is slowing success somewhat but overall anglers are finding good numbers of fish.

Red River, River Keepers, Fargo: Warm weather allowing for continued Red River fishing activity with nice numbers of walleye and catfish. Try nightcrawlers, cut bait or frogs. Red River fall walleye bite is on in the Wahpeton area with larger fish taken from deep pools.

Pipestem Reservoir, Dan's Sooper Stop, Jamestown: Continued crappie success with nice numbers of nice-sized fish.

Pipestem Reservoir, Pioneer Bait Shop, Jamestown: Look for continued crappie success.

Spiritwood Lake, Dan's Sooper Stop, Jamestown: Fair for a variety of species.

Still some doves in the region but look for them to move out with any colder weather.

North-central N.D.: Generally good waterfowl opener with lots of ducks still scattered throughout the region.
