Ellendale will face Dickinson Trinity in the opening round of the state Class B boys basketball tournament on Thursday in Minot.

The tournament's top five teams were ranked through an online voting process by coaches of the participating schools, with the remaining three teams being randomly drawn to determine quarterfinal matchups.

Ellendale was the second team to be drawn at random, pairing the Cardinals against the Titans. Dickinson Trinity was ranked second in the online voting and was ranked third in the final Class B media poll of the season.

The Cardinals (20-5) and the Titans (22-2), the champions of Region 7, will play the first game of the tournament at 1 p.m. at the Minot State University Dome.
