The University of Jamestown football team led 14-7 after the first quarter Saturday afternoon in Mitchell, South Dakota, but the Dakota Wesleyan Tigers responded with 34 unanswered points, handing the Jimmies a 41-14 loss in UJ's final road game of the season.

Jamestown (1-9, 1-7 Great Plains Athletic Conference) finishes the season next Saturday at home against Briar Cliff. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.

After the Tigers drove 70 yards in just four plays to take a 7-0 lead on Kiel Nelson's 7-yard touchdown run, the Jimmies put together two scoring drives in the first quarter.

Marcus Giles rushed in from two yards out, capping off a nine-play, 80-yard drive in 4:21 to tie the game at 7-7 following Sean Fenelon's extra point.

UJ's next drive was a quick one, as Tanner Mathern broke free for a 63-yard run on the first play of the drive and found the end zone. Fenelon's extra point made it 14-7.

Zachary Lester threw for two touchdowns in the second quarter as DWU took a 21-14 lead into halftime.

The Tigers' Luke Loudenberg's 16-yard scoring run in the third quarter increased the lead to 27-14 in the third quarter.

Lester scampered in from five yards out at the 10:25 mark of the fourth quarter to increase the lead to 34-14, then Loudenberg found paydirt again from three yards out to make it 41-14 with 7:15 to play.

UJ's Cade Torgerson completed 8-of-17 passes for 105 yards and was intercepted once. Jordan Mann was 4-of-9 passing for 37 yards and an interception.

Mathern finished with 67 yards rushing on nine carries. Jimmy Hatch added 29 yards on eight rushes, while Torgerson also had 29 yards on eight carries.

UJ's Garrett Mitchell caught six passes for 68 yards, including a long of 27 yards. Hatch had two receptions for 50 yards, with a long of 39.

Jamestown's Darrick Jones led the defense with seven tackles, including one for loss. Jordan Olson was in on five stops, followed by Aundre Purnell, TJ Milk and Zachary Phillips, with four each. Manuel Najera recorded UJ's only quarterback sack.
