Jamestown High School's Meghan Ford made a statement on Saturday, May 4 during the second day of the Howard Wood Dakota Relays.
The sophomore clocked a new 1,600-meter, personal-best time of 4 minutes, 54.11 seconds on Saturday, which set a new JHS school record, Dakota Relays record and is the third-best time in North Dakota state history.
Ford broke the Melissa Falk's JHS school record of 4:59.61 in 2000, Dakota Relays record set by Yankton Kavan in 2005 (4:55.09) and is behind Dickinson's Becki Wells (4:44.44) for the state record.
Ford wasn't the only Blue Jay setting records, however. Anthonett Nabwe qualified in the javelin for the North Dakota state track and field meet, set the inaugural Dakota Relays event record with a toss of 116 feet, 10 inches and won the event.
Ford (800), Gavin Haut (3200), Marcus Hochhalter (discus, shot put, javelin), Paul Vandal (javelin) and Aaron Mack (javelin) all earned a spot on the top-eight podium over the weekend.
