The University of Jamestown men's golf team, backed by Tate Olson's 4-under 140, led wire-to-wire at the Jimmie Fall Invite, which concluded Monday at Jamestown Country Club.
The Jimmie Orange team of Olson, Jackson Worner, Max Noffsinger, Jake Huculak and Benjamin Schaefer finished with a combined team score of 25-over 601 (303-298) to win the team title by 22 shots over Minot State University.
Next up for the Jimmies is the Mount Mercy Invite in Marion, Iowa, at Hunters Ridge GC on September 11-12. Both the Jimmie men's and women's teams will compete at the invite.
Olson shot back-to-back rounds of 70 to finish 4-under and seven shots ahead of Worner, who ended at 3-over 147 (75-72). Noffsinger tied for 11th at 12-over 156 (79-77), Huculak tied for 16th at 14-over 158 (79-79), and Schaefer tied for 22nd at 17-over 161 (80-81).
The Jimmie Black team took third at 49-over 625 (319-306) and was led by Treyton Forsman who carded a 6-over 150 (76-74). Forsman placed fifth. Gehrig Giess (82-73--155) and Tomas Garcia (80-77--157) also cracked into the top-20, tying for ninth and 14th place.
Carter Wells (81-83--164) and Carter Janssen (85-82--167) rounded out the Jimmie Black team while individually Bridger Hansen and Jed Truax finished with scores of 179 and 181 to crack into the top-50.
On the women's side, the Jimmie Orange team finished a combined 121-over par to finish 38 shots in back of Minot State University.
Izzy Marchino finished third after carding an 8-over 80, the top round on Monday. Her total score was 21-over 165 (85-80). Jayme Carlson was eighth at 31-over 175 (91-84), with her seven-shot improvement the best for the Jimmie Orange team. Freshman and Jamestown native Kyra Vogel tied for ninth at 34-over 178 (92-86).
Faith Justesen tied for 11th at 35-over 179 (90-89), while Haley Malone tied for 16th at 40-over 184 (93-91).
Minot State's Anya Ross took first with a 15-over 159 (78-81).
The Jimmie Black team knocked 29 shots off their opening-round score and finished fourth at 161-over, 10 shots behind third-place Dickinson State. All five golfers on the squad improved by at least four shots from Sunday to Monday.
Coley Olson placed 13th at 36-over 180 (94-86), followed by Teagan Fee in 14th place at 37-over 181 (95-86). Abby Gremaux tied for 16th at 40-over 184 (94-90), Olivia Wallace finished 23rd at 50-over 194 (100-94), and Sarah Azure was 24th at 52-over 196 (104-92).
Individual competitors Ema Lee and Lauryn Hibl finished 19th at 43-over 187 (92-95) and 26th at 55-over 199 (102-97).
