The Blue Jays have been looking to best Dickinson at a gymnastics meet for a long time.
Dreams came true Thursday night.
The Blue Jays topped the podium at the Starstruck Quadrangular Meet in Mandan tumbling to a score of 144 points. The Jays eclipsed the rest of the field by 1.2 points. The Midgets placed second with 142.8 points, Breckenridge/Wahpeton (127.35) and Mandan (125) followed. JHS is slated to host Grand Forks on Jan. 30 at 11 a.m.
Blue Jay senior Rachel Schiele led her team past the five-time state champion Midgets. Schiele racked up top-two finishes in all events but vault, where an 8.5 performance left her in a tie for 16th.
Schiele was among the top-three gymnasts in the all-around competition as well, scoring a collective 35.95 points. The all-around was won by the Jays' Julia Skari (36.4). Jamestown's Haley Nelson placed second in the all-around with 36.05 points.
Thursday marked the third gymnastics meet the Jays have won this season.
