LOCAL SPORTS ROUNDUP: Jimmie hockey rebounds against Teton's

University of Jamestown men's hockey broke a 2-2 second-period tie on Saturday afternoon with seven unanswered goals to defeat Williston State College 9-2 at Pete Conlin Ice Arena in Williston.

Overall, 13 Jimmies recorded a point in Jamestown's eighth victory on the campaign.

Sophomore forward Dylan Haney was one of two Jimmies that notched a team-high 3 points, after scoring two goals and recording an assist. Junior forward Jason Richter also tallied a goal and two assists.

Teton goalie Angus Laing was relieved of his duties 14 minutes, 14 seconds into the second period after allowing four goals in the frame. Jimmy Grosklaus came in and stopped 12 of 15 shots on frame.

Jamestown junior goaltender Tyson Brouwer stopped 30 of 32 shots during the Saturday afternoon contest. The Jimmies were penalized 12 times for 35 minutes, while Williston had 10 infractions for 20 minutes.

Next up for Jamestown will be a road game against Minot State University on Friday. The two teams have already faced off four times this year.

Wolves top Cougars

Kidder County girls basketball improved to 3-0 on the young Class B season with a 55-32 victory over Heart River on Saturday, Dec. 1, in Steele.

Kidder County coach Dan Welder and the Wolves made the right adjustments at halftime. The home team outpaced its opponent 30-7 over the final two periods.

Brittany Rath, a junior forward, led all scorers with 19 for Kidder County.

Andrews finishes first at Battle of the Rockies

Agatha Andrews' first-place finish in the 170-pound division highlighted University of Jamestown women's wrestlings Saturday at the Battle of the Rockies in Great Falls, Mont. The event was hosted by the University of Providence.

The Akiak, Alaska native pinned teammate Myranda Velazquez at the 2 minute, 12 second mark during the semifinals. The freshman would go on to defeat Providence's Sabrina Perez by a 11-6 decision in the finals. Overall, 15 Jimmies finished in the top six.
